Rescued from the Dungeon by Anarie Brady & Kristi Ahlers

5 Items on My Bucket List

1. I really want to cage dive (I’m not too crazy) with Great White Sharks. I’ve already cage dived with reef sharks (I call them water puppies, don’t believe all the propaganda lol) off the coast of Oahu and it was amazing. Great Whites totally intrigue me. I grew up in Northern California and the Red Triangle was right there on the coast and I always wanted to be able to spy a fin. I don’t know why but I would love to see one of these in real life. I know it sounds crazy but it is what it is lol.
2. I adore the Ballet. I go as often as I can, and I would love to be able to travel to Russia to see the Bolshoi Ballet perform on their own stage in person. I’ve seen the ballet perfume in movie theaters, but I would love to be able to see them perform in person. In fact, last month I went to the movies to see them perform my favorite ballet Giselle.
3. One of these days I’m going to go to NYC and see Les Miserable performed on Broadway. I adore this story, I’ve read it at least 7 times, and I’m currently, slowly but surely reading it in its native French. Jean Valjean is one of my all-time favorite character. In fact, I love the story so much I was hesitant to see the musical version as I didn’t know how well or poorly (let’s face it the book is ALWAYS better) it would track with the story. But, I went and saw Hugh Jackman (yes, yes, I know he’s not on Broadway…with this one anyhow…lol) and found the music actually enhanced the story (except perhaps for Russel Crowe…hope I don’t offend but, I couldn’t like his singing). In an aside…also on this trip to NYC I want to go to Mood Fabrics to pet and meet Swatch. (If you don’t know who Swatch is, he’s is an adorable dog who is the mascot of the store which is featured on Project Runway…guilty pleasure telly viewing for me.)
4. One day I will be on the beach with a drink in one hand, a book in another, sensibly being in the sun on the beach in Bora Bora. No phone, no social media. Nada. Just me, the sand, the swoosh of the water. SIGH, I can feel my blood pressure dropping just thinking about it. I’d also love to make it to Australia so if Bora Bora doesn’t happen, but Aussie Land does, you won’t see me crying.
5. I will one day I will attend The Kentucky Derby! I love, love watching it, The fashion, the HATS! I so want a beautiful hat and go watch those beautiful horses run. I even do my own little “party” here at home and I always have a “Derby Bottle of Woodford” which is the bourbon served at the Derby. I just really want to be surrounded by the people, the atmosphere, the excitement!

Love's Captive:

"Let's both return to England, Ashton." She covered her mouth the second the words slipped past. Damning words, words that smacked at the very heart of who her husband was and would continue to be despite her fear. Her selfish request hung like a black cloud between them. "I'm sorry, Ashton, forgive me."

He pulled her close to his body, to feel his strength and heat. "I love you, my Duchess. A day doesn't pass where you aren't in my thoughts. But, I must return. I know you understand this. I'm only sorry I can't honor your request right now."

Victoria smiled, tears slipped down her cheeks and she didn't bother to hide them. What was the point? She hated this war, she hated this impending sense that something was going to go wrong.
"All will be well. I am to be moved back behind the lines. You know that. I'll be away from the fighting this go around. I will have more leave in July, I'll come back to England and everything will be as it should."

They took a cab to the train station. Her train to Belgium wasn't leaving for another hour or so, so she walked Ashton to his platform. The train was already in place and men in uniform swarmed the cars. Sweethearts embraced and whispered to each other. The cacophony of the station gave her a pounding headache.

"I love you." Ashton rested his forehead against her own. "I promise I will be careful. I promise I'll come back to you."

"Shhh. Don't make a promise you can't keep."

"No matter what happens to me, Tori, I'll come back to you."
