Wildflower by Alexandra Forry: Character Interview and Excerpt

Character Interview with Lexy Heller,
15 year old daughter of the billionaire Max Heller.
From Wildflower. Enjoy! J

Hello Lexy! Thanks for taking this time and agreeing to answer a few questions.  :)  Tell us about yourself?

The name is Lexy Heller, I’m the only daughter of the billionaire Max Heller. Living my life with my Dad and my butler Horace in our Mansion in Sedona Arizona. I’m 15 and just finished the ninth grade (THANK GOD!) Thought I never would get out of the ninth grade, my homeroom teacher was a nightmare!  I loved the latest fashion, Gossip, Playing harmless pranks on people that I don’t care for.

Tell us about your family.

My dad owns Heller International, a business that my grandpa started. My dad is a great dad, we’re very close going on hikes and such. I’ve never known my mother, she died during my birth. What my dad has told me about her I would have loved my mother! My dad had an older brother, which passed away when I was young. All I know is that my dad wasn’t fond of my uncle, I’m not sure why. I have a wonderful Aunt, Aunt Renee, who was my uncle’s wife. She help my dad raise me.

What group are you hanging out with in high school?

To be truthful, I was a loner, just transferred from boarding school (DON’T ASK, LONG STORY) the popular girls and I butted heads since day one. Then that changed when I met Sydney. Sydney and I hit it off, becoming fast friends. Pulling pranks on a teacher and the popular girls, and my dad’s dumb girlfriend. He, He, yup fun times.

What do you do to unwind and relax?

I take long bubble baths and play my music loud and drink a soda. Then after my bath time, I watch TV or sometimes a movie with a big bowl of popcorn!!

What would we find under your bed?

Now that’s top secret! Don’t want my dad to find out, thank-you, next question.

What is the next big thing?

Going to Italy for about three weeks, I think, not sure. Then I’m going to Paris with my Aunt Renee and my friend Sydney. I can’t hardly wait!!  After that off to tenth grade I go.

What one word best describes you?

So many words that could describes me, how about I go with… extraordinary! Yeap that’s me.

Do your friends think you are an introvert or an extravert? Why?

I'm definitely extravert! I’m Lexy Heller the life of any party!  Just ask anyone that knows me…

In this beautiful and moving story of love, growth, and redemption among the stunning red rocks of Sedona, Arizona, Sydney—a teenaged Army orphan—discovers that love knows no bounds and life has many twists and turns of fate. After she is forced to move in with her late mother’s sister Blanche and Blanche’s abusive alcoholic husband Dean, Sidney finds purpose and friendship in Lexy, the daughter of Max Heller the City’s most prominent widower and business magnate. Unknowingly, the girls’ antics awaken Blanche’s lost and suppressed passions and stirs Max’s long-thwarted drive to build a loving and complete family. What emerges is the wonderfully successful Epicurian Café, the brainchild of Blanche and Sydney actively encouraged by Max and Lexy. The Café quickly becomes a center of the community, the start of a new life for Blanche and Sydney, and a chance for Max and Lexy to discover true love and the meaning of commitment. An emotional roller-coaster with its exciting twists and turns, Wildflower is an exhilarating and satisfying read

“Why don’t we open a business? Like a simple sandwich and coffee shop,” Sydney announced with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

“A sandwich shop?” Blanche asked, looking surprised and a bit taken aback.

“Yeah, why not?”

While Sydney waited for an answer, Blanche just looked at her, dumbfounded.

“Sydney, I would love to open a sandwich shop, but it takes a lot of money--money that we just don’t have.”

“Oh please, Aunt Blanche! I bet you can get a loan from the bank. It will be exciting!” Sydney pleaded.

“I don’t think that your uncle will approve. Sydney I love your idea, truly do! I was taken aback at first, because it has always been a dream of mine to open a little shop of some kind on Main Street,” Blanche said wistfully. ”It costs a lot of money to open up a business, besides I have an offer for a job in Prescott.”

“Pooh on Uncle Dean, and turn down that job. For me, please? You can ask Annette how to open a business--she will know, since she owns her own business.” Sydney said begging her aunt.

“I will think about it, okay, Sydney?” Blanche said making her way to her closet and picking out a dress.
