When Lana Bloom learns the devastating news that her mother is dying, she is faced with a terrible dilemma.  The one thing that can save her is the one thing she does not have.  For young and innocent Lana, the unthinkable becomes her only choice.

But when she walks through the door of that exclusive restaurant she has no idea of the seismic shift her life is about to take, for the highest bidder will not be the rich man she has accompanied.  Fate drops her at the feet of the deeply mysterious and dazzlingly gorgeous American banker, Blake Law Barrington.  Throbbing with raw masculinity and arrogance, this is a man who owns all that he pursues.

And now he wants her.

Lana cannot deny she is both intrigued and intoxicated by the world Blake inhabits and the smouldering passion he stirs in her body, but she is also fearful for this man is addictive, and right now she is very vulnerable.  She knows she should focus only on the arrangement, but how can she…when he has opened a door that cannot be closed?

I fell in love with Lana from the first page.  Forced to sell the only thing of value that she has in order to get the expensive, experimental treatment that may save her mother’s life, she sets her plan in motion never realizing the unforeseen consequences her bargain will unleash.

Lana is a bit naïve, honest to a fault, considerate, and stubborn.  She does not act rashly but considers her options carefully before committing to a course of action.  She is beautiful, intelligent and considerate.  Billionaire Blake Barrington is beguiled by her and manages to manipulate himself suavely into her life by offering her a deal she just cannot refuse; in the process, literally saving her from the nasty, sadistic attentions of a beast.

The contrast between the privileged few and the poor moochers of society is depicted in a way that I found profoundly illuminating.  I loved getting to ride along with Lana as she is prepared for her role as mistress to one of the richest and most powerful men alive.  There were moments that were funny and others that nearly broke my heart.  Blake also is drawn using a precision of word that is practically indescribable.  I enjoyed this book immensely mostly because the relationships within the story seemed so real and believable to me. The personalities of the characters as they interacted to events stayed true to the overall storyline while still allowing change and growth to occur. The intimate interludes between Blake and Lana sizzled with emotion without being excessively lengthy.  The sexual scenes were tastefully written and all the more electrifying because of it.

This book was given to me by the author in exchange for my honest review.

 About the Author:
Georgia Le Carre lives in England, in an old 19th century romantic cottage surrounded by a magical garden filled with fruit and walnut trees.

When she is not feeding words into her laptop, she is either curled up in bed with a box of chocolates and a good read, or lost in a long walk in the woods. Especially on moonlit nights.  And often with the man of her dreams.
