Synopsis:
In the wake of the apocalypse, nobody is safe.
Shane Tucker and his friends thought they managed to save the world from the destructive machine that killed off most of its adult population. Unfortunately, a war nobody was prepared for has only just begun. Now they find themselves joining ranks with a secret organization that will train them to fight for the right to survive. Taking refuge alongside other teenage survivors in a hidden base set deep within the mountains, they will learn how to repel an imminent attack by an ancient race of aliens.
Determined to safeguard the children under their charge, Shane and his friends compete for the ultimate prize—a suicide mission against the flagship of the alien fleet. While Shane’s feelings for Kelly deepen, along with his need to protect her, he finds emotions clouding his judgment. He’ll gladly die for her. But he refuses to die with her. No amount of training can prepare them for what is to come. Everything the brave teenagers have endured thus far will be eclipsed, with the freedom of humanity hanging in the balance.
The Harvest is the heart-pumping sequel to The Last Orphans by N.W. Harris.

Excerpt from The Harvest by N.W. Harris:
“You,” Jones said, pointing at Kelly. “And you.” He selected another of the Russian boys, the dark-haired cackler Tracy had tripped earlier.
Acid flooding his stomach, Shane involuntarily stepped forward to object. Kelly grabbed his arm.
“I got this,” she whispered, her eyes narrowing as she studied her opponent. Shane had seen the look when she killed in the gym, and when she fought in Atlanta. He knew she was no wimp, but it didn’t make it any easier to see her go against the much larger Russian boy who had to be craving revenge.
She walked to the center of the ring, approaching her opponent so casually it didn’t look like she was even going to try to fight. The boy smiled wickedly and raised a finger.
“Shall I beat this little girl with one finger, or two?”
Except for Anfisa, who glared at him with her arms crossed over her chest, his comrades laughed. The tall Russian girl seemed disappointed with the performance of her team, and she seemed to be having trouble keeping them in control.
Kelly smiled amiably at him, her hands still at her sides. With no sign she was going to attack, her foot came up between his legs, landing in his groin with a sickening thud. The boy’s eyes went wide, and he crumpled.
“Maybe try three fingers next time,” she suggested, pushing his head so he toppled to the ground. Then she turned around and walked calmly back to Shane. “And you thought all those cheerleading kicks were just for show?”
“I’ll never doubt you again,” he said, chuckling.

Excerpt for Blood of Shadows by Mariana Thorn:

The morning had passed into early midday when Onyx's ear flickered and his stride faltered. It wasn't long before I heard what he was hearing. Hoof beats, coming fast and hard behind us. The first horse sounded like one of the light fast messenger horses. There were at least two other horses giving chase.

I signaled Onyx to move into the forest and pulled out my bow. I had an arrow notched by the time the messenger passed me. Hot on his heels were three brigand. I let the arrow fly and was surprised that it actually hit the lead rider in the throat. He fell in front of one of the other horses which didn't have time to miss him. The horse went down tripping over the body. The rider went flying, he would be easy to catch.

Now I just had to chase down the third rider. I pushed Onyx into a gallop, pulling my sword out at the same time. He glanced back and saw me, almost falling off his horse on his own. I would have laughed, but I was about to either take his life or capture him. Both options would not bode well for him. He pulled a sword. I could not risk getting injured or having my horse injured. He would have to die.

I rode up next to him, knocked his sword up leaving his side open. I thrust my sword up under his arm aiming for his heart. When I pulled it out blood spouted from the wound. He fell from the horse dead. I cringed a little when his foot got stuck in the stirrup. The horse took off dragging the body with him. That could be dealt with later. There was a cavalier outpost not far from here. They could clean up that mess.
