Welcome! Thanks for visiting and agreeing to answer a few questions. How did you start your writing career?
As a cure for insomnia. Everything about my life looked good on the surface, and it honestly was good. But that didn’t change the fact that something was missing. I had long dreamed of some deeper purpose than just work and home life. In the early hours of one July night, 2009, my unsuspected career began. I had never wanted to be a writer, nor had I ever written anything beyond the necessity of school work. But the shoe fit, and after a challenge from my wife, First Night of Summer began, along with a goal to help real life people through fiction.
Tell us about your current release.
First Night of Summer is a psychological thriller. It follows an ex-air force pilot after his children become the target of a child predator. It’s a story of good versus evil in the most basic form—the corruption of innocence. There is rage and sorrow, hate and love, tears and laughter, and a glimpse into what lurks in the corners of a very dark reality. Conversely, the darkness is brightened by hope, light, and the indelible human spirit. It is a fast paced, occasionally challenging read with a light and satisfying ending. The characters are real and raw, and easily identifiable. A quote by Emily Dickinson is a strong driver for the plot and journey the characters must endure:
“We never know how high we are
Till we are called upon to rise…”

My next release will confront another prominent, but slightly less controversial, domestic issue. The storyline follows a mother and father as they struggle to raise their children through bouts of poverty, issues with alcohol, and domestic violence. Lines between antagonist and protagonist are blurred, the affects of a poor home life reach beyond the home, and the almost certain cause and effect that hurt people hurt people is undeniable.
Still untitled, my next release is another journey into the human mind, heart, and motivations. I hope it evokes many raw emotions, and I hope it inspires those who have been, or are currently, in similar situations.
Has someone helped or mentored you in your writing career?
Absolutely. In the midst of my biggest struggle with writing, I had the pleasure of meeting Vince Flynn. Now deceased, Vince took the time to befriend a total stranger and help a young lad onto a path for success.
The one and only time Vince came on a book tour to Texas, he scheduled a signing a mere forty-five minutes from my house. This is nothing short of a miracle considering how large Texas is. I arrived with a bag full of first editions, and following a four hour signing, the line ended with me. I nervously told him about my newly found passion. And there, one-on-one in the small coffee shop, he guided me through several problems, as well as recommending a writers workshop in New York that is undeniably the catalyst for why I’m here. Only a month later Vince learned that he had stage three metastatic prostate cancer. It was one of those pivotal moments in my life I will never forget.
There is much more to this story, including several strange coincidences that I don’t have room to share, but my eternal thanks goes out to Vince and his generosity. If not for him, I would not be writing this. R.I.P.

Synopsis:WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES, a father discovers that a journey of misfortune is sometimes the path to deliverance. The quaint mountain town of Ruidoso, New Mexico, is the perfect place for Isaac Snow to raise his family. But when eight-year-old daughters, Caroline and Josie, commit an innocent act of heroism, media coverage attracts the wrong kind of attention. Soon, their life unravels, leading them to the crossroads of love and hate, forgiveness and retribution.
In the dark hours of a drizzly morning, Isaac, an ex-air force pilot, wakes to find a masked intruder cradling one of the twins in his arms. Before he can react, the man in black leaps through the nearest window, plummeting in a tangle of body parts and glass. Isaac charges in pursuit, but is suddenly faced with a new dilemma. Caroline is unconscious, lying facedown in the lawn, cuts from the shattered window saturating her pajamas. If he gives chase, his little girl will surely bleed to death.
