Interview with Katie James,
main character in To Katie With Love
Where do you dream of traveling to and why? It would be my dream to travel to England. Cooper’s family is from there, and I’d like to meet them one day. That is, if he’s serious about the relationship. Geez, I hope he’s serious about the relationship. What if I’m the only one thinking of the future? What if he doesn’t want his parents to meet me? This is why I stick to books.
Who is your favorite author? My favorite author is Elizabeth Jayne. She writes the Immortal Blood vampire romance series, and I just love her books. It’s like she’s picking through my fantasies and writing them down. Her character, Henry, Earl of Devonshire, the 700 year old vampire, is my fantasy boyfriend.
Tell us about your family. My father is a plastic surgeon in Connecticut and my mother is in charge of her local garden club. When she isn’t at the spa, getting pampered, she’s planning my future for me. She wants me to marry a rich, successful doctor, just like she did. She hates my choices in clothing, careers, and boyfriends.
What was the scariest moment of your life? I’ve had a lot of scary moments lately. I’ve managed to stare down the barrel of a loaded gun more times in the past few weeks than should be legally allowed. My life used to be so much less eventful. This is why I should never put Silvia in charge of my birthday plans. This is why I prefer books to people.
What songs are most played on your Ipod? I’m listening to Etta James’ At Last, Celine Dion’s Because You Loved Me, The Eagles’ Lyin Eyes, Jewel’s Foolish Games and Fergie’s Clumsy.
What are you passionate about these days? These days, I’m most passionate about Cooper Maxwell. I’ve always known he was drop dead gorgeous, but lately, I’ve noticed he’s off the charts sexy too. I find myself so completely unnerved by him, I can’t seem to keep my wits about me.
Who should play you in a film? I definitely think Mandy Moore would play me in the movie. Besides her physical traits matching my own, she has the same bubbly personality.
Do your friends think you are an introvert or an extravert? Why? My friends would definitely call me an introvert. In fact, they think my obsession with romance novels, specifically the Immortal Blood series, is bordering on pathetic. I’ve even been told I’m just a few cats a way from being a cliché! But I think I’m just misunderstood.
To Katie With Love
Written by Erica Lucke Dean
Banker Katie James has a serious thing for romance novels. She'd almost rather settle for a fictional boyfriend than risk her heart on a flesh-and-blood man. Besides, the only real guy she’s remotely interested in is her rich, unattainable client, the mysterious Cooper Maxwell.
Looking less like the ultra-conservative man she knows and more like a drop-dead sexy character from one of her books, Cooper crashes Katie’s 29th birthday party. But one too many drinks lands Katie in uncharted territory… Cooper’s bedroom!
Drunk on love, Katie dives headfirst into the relationship only to discover that Cooper is keeping secrets... dangerous ones. As if things couldn’t get worse, her meddling mother makes a surprise visit, digging up a whole new set of problems.
After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time, Erica Lucke Dean moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains, where she lives in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse with her workaholic husband, her 180lb lap dog, and at least one ghost.
When she’s not writing or tending to her collection of crazy chickens and diabolical ducks, she’s either reading bad fan fiction or singing karaoke in the local pub. Much like the main character in her newest book, To Katie With Love, Erica is a magnet for disaster, and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces. How she’s managed to survive this long is one of life’s great mysteries.
