Sergeant Holly Rudd arrives in the coastal community of Bamfield after local divers discover a body with a knife jutting from its chest in the waters of Barkley Sound. As she investigates the crime, Holly soon realizes the sleepy town is rife with secrets. But what unsettles her most is the residents’ insistence that she bears a striking resemblance to the victim of a murder from three decades earlier. She shrugs off the uncanny likeness as a coincidence. But her simmering attraction to Finn Carver, one of the divers who discovered the corpse, isn’t so easy to ignore.
Finn, a former Special Forces soldier, knows it’s best to keep his distance from Holly. Yet it isn’t long before they both give in to the consuming desire they share. And as the danger escalates, Finn and Holly must rely on each other to thwart the plans of a cold-blooded killer who’s intent on keeping the past buried.
Hi Laurie, this is Toni (
) thanks so much for having me on your blog. I thought that for a change I’d let someone else do the talking, so let me introduce the hero of my story, DANGEROUS WATERS, Finn Carver. Finn is a former Special Forces soldier and now dive-master at a world famous marine laboratory. Take it away, Finn. Anderson
Hello, Laurie. I’ve got to be honest. This is the last place I thought I’d be on a beautiful sunny day like today. Living in the
Pacific Rim we learn to enjoy all the blue skies we get. No offense, but being dragged in here to do an interview is not my idea of fun...
Tell us about your family.
My family? Huh. That’s a short answer. I’ve got one brother. A guy who’s spent most of his life in prison because he defended me. He hates my guts and I don’t blame him. We have what some people might call a dysfunctional relationship. I’ll let you know when he starts talking to me again. Bottom line—I love him, I miss him. He doesn’t feel the same.
What was the scariest moment of your life?
I’ve had a few scary moments over the years but the worst was finding Holly (that’s RCMP Sgt. Holly Rudd to you) injured after some asshole ran her off the road. That sucked. Or maybe it was before that. Way before, when I was a snot-nosed brat with a mean-as-a-rattlesnake daddy and nowhere to run. Nah, thinking about it, it was definitely finding Holly hurt and bleeding on the side of the road. If I ever get my hands on the sonofabitch who did that...
What book are you reading now?
WHELKS TO WHALES. COASTAL MARINE LIFE OF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST by Rick M. Harbo. Exciting stuff. *Grin*
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Who should play you in a film? A movie?
*Snort* Yeah, I can see it now. It would have to be someone big and built and kickass. Maybe what’s his name, Channing Tatum (as long as he doesn’t start frickin’ stripping), or that Canadian guy from Flashpoint, the one who gets the girl—David Paetkau.
Morning Person? Or Night Person? How do you know?
I’m whatever people need me to be. That’s a hangover from my military days. You do what you have to do when you have to do it. Sleep’s overrated.
What would we find under your bed?
Not a damn thing. Not even dust.
What makes you happy?
Seriously? You’re asking a guy what makes him happy? Sex. Holly. Sex. Food. Holly. Diving. Beer. Sex with Holly. Okay, seriously—I guess if I wanted to be really happy and I already had all of the above, it would be getting my brother to talk to me again. And making sure nothing bad ever happened to my buddy Thom. Thom’s suffered enough already.
Okay, I’m done. Got a lot of prepping to do for tomorrow’s dives and then maybe I’ll figure out where the heck Holly went. Later.
