When a terrorist’s dirty bomb threatens to contaminate the United States heartland, only pure American courage can disarm and disassemble the threat of Death’s Door.
New Jersey State Police Detectives Dell Sharpton and Bill Anders have been supporting the state’s Terrorism Task Force by using their Arabic language skills to gain trust and solve crimes within the tightly knit Arab American community. When officials at the National Security Agency learn of Dell’s remarkable courage and odd but proven ability to “see” the immediate dangers facing his tactical operations team, he and his partner Bill get caught up in a secret government run counter-terrorism mission that leads both men—and the ones they love—directly to Death’s Door.
Death’s Door is a fast paced thriller with non-stop action, suspense, humor and a touch of romance.

Thank you so much for having me at your blog, Laurie. I love your interviews and post. I hope you don’t mind but I’m a bit busy so I’ll only answer a few questions. The good news is I asked one of my characters, Bill Anders, from my latest book, Death’s Door, to come along and answer a few questions later in the interview. Hope you don’t mind. He’s much funnier than I am.
Hi Dannie! Welcome. Sure, I understand and am excited you brought Bill along with you…Does travel play in the writing of your books?
All of my writing involves places that interest me and I try to take the readers there to feel the heat of the desert, or the coolness of the mountains or even the beauty of the sea. My latest novel, Death’s Door, takes you to the mean streets ofNew Jersey , to Beirut and the hot deserts of Lebanon and the cornfields of Iowa . When I write I am there and my muse gives me that magic touch to write what I feel.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned while writing your books?
Writing a novel length manuscript is easy for me—I’m full of words desperate to get out. But that’s only 50% of the process. My confidence lags when I have to present my work to readers. This is where writers that I call friends come in to lift me up and urge me on. I’ve met so many great, great writers that are honest in their caring for others and I’ve learned so much from them.
I never knew that people in the same art would be so giving and they are one reason why I strive to make my works professional in rewriting, editing and presentation. It’s a great feeling when a peer compliments you on the work you’ve done.
Okay, enough from me. I’m just a writer. I want to introduce you to one of the funniest, hardworking people I know. Bill Anders is a New Jersey State Trooper who will amaze you while his partner, Dell Sharpton does the hard work.
Ask away, Laurie!
Hi Bill! Thanks for agreeing to talk to me! :) You're in law enforcement. Tell us...what was the scariest moment of your life?
Dell, my partner, and I were being chased by a bunch of guys that wanted us dead. We had stolen some important documents and shot a few people—hey, I only shot one of them. Did I mention we were in Beirut ? Anyway, I had eaten something that not only disagreed with me but wanted to argue about it while we’re trying escape. I had gas so bad Dell threatened to shoot me to keep me quiet.
We were within seconds of being caught and this kid opens a door and hides us. I love that kid. I was so embarrassed and scared and I can still smell that smell sometimes.
My second scariest moment was when I found out I was in love.
What is your favorite meal?
Let me say that I will never eat chicken on a stick in Lebanon again, unless I need a little alone time.
What one word best describes you?
White Snake… yeah, I know it’s two words but push them together and you get one big… Sorry. Don’t mind me blushing and please don’t tell Sami. That kid will cut my throat if he hears that nickname again. If you read my story you’ll understand and be amazed, ha!
Is there a writer you idolize? If so who?
I have to say the greatest author I know personally is Dannie Hill. Heck, I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for him! To tell the truth; I really like his Muse. She follows him around wearing almost nothing and she really makes me sweat. Whatever you do, Laurie, please don’t tell Fatima I said that. Tell her it was Dell! Say, Laurie, you’re kind of hot too!
I always wanted to travel and see the world. If it weren’t for Dannie I’d still be back in Jersey trying to catch a break. I caught Dell reading Death’s Door the other days and he never reads anything—so you know the book is good and it’s starring a tall, handsome, daredevil named Bill Anders. Laurie, you don’t have to tell Dell that last part, okay?
I hope you enjoyed meeting Bill. He really is a hero you would like to know better. Thanks again, Laurie for having us at your place. This was fun.
And….thank you both! I’ve enjoyed finding out a bit more about each of you!
I live with my wife in Thailand and on occasion in Houston , Texas . Most of my writing is done in Thailand . I have four published novels that are enjoyed by many readers.

Thank you erlessard. This was my very first interview where one of my characters came with me. He did much better than me and I had a great time.

Letizia
Well done. The interview of the main character is a great idea.
Thank you Letizia and Tim. I also think bringing Bill along was a great idea-- credit goes to Laurie for such great questions.
Great interview with Bill. He's a wonderful character, Dannie.
You may need to write another novel for him. I think he's enjoying the life of being in your books.
eden
You may be right, Eden. Bill kind of reminds me of me-- not the brightest bulb in the box, but loveable, brave and lives to travel. lol.
Thank you so much for your comments! You are a special lady and writer!

I'm amazed, I must say. Seldom do I encounter a blog that's equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you have
hit the nail on the head. The problem is something too few people are speaking intelligently about.
I'm very happy I stumbled across this in my search for something relating to this.
